Guess what? Still in Memphis!

Woke up! Got out of bed! Don’t need a comb. Dragged my bags out one more time to get dressed. My neighbor and I walked to breakfast and had a nice leisurely sit down breakfast. Nothing fancy, but it was packed with the post-church crowd. I read my book early into the morning and I thought I might wake up early again but I did not.

There still are no flights into Boston. I’ve checked five times today and the airlines are totally at a loss. What can I say? I guess I can sit around bored just like everyone else.

The weather today was awesome. It was sunny and (relatively) warm. The sky was a little bit hazy so we couldn’t see the mountains near here. I remembered to bring my camera, but forgot that I was carrying it until I got back to my room. There is something wrong with the water here and all we had today were cold showers. Brrr!

I called Sara earlier. We had a terrible connection and I got frustrated at the phone. With all this waiting around, I could have spent another couple of days at home with Sara and the kids.

My life right now is so boring… I could have sit around and watched movies, but I read my book until mid afternoon until I fell asleep reading again. Mark (my neighbor) woke me up to go to dinner. We walked down to the pub and had a couple of beers and then I had to leave.

I’m tired of being bored. And I’m tired of being tired.

Hopefully Monday is better.

And, even if it isn’t, it’s still another day down.

But who’s counting?

  1. Well, as you noted, it's another day down. *sigh* Mary Cay said to let you know she's got you on her church's prayer list, and my friend Carroll Kruger has a friend who has you on *her* church's prayer list as well. We're all praying for a healthy stay and a safe return. Hopefully our new president will say enough is enough and bring everyone home!

  3. Can you see the edge of the world from there?
We had a good day yesterday. Sara read a book. Baba read a book to Rebecca. Liam and Granddad assembled the Spiderman puzzle again. Rebecca went to a party and cleaned up on candy. Liam took a reallllly long nap. He still snuggles on wake up but he seems to be growing out of it. We had hot chocolate and white raisins to compensate for no party. He is an easy happy kid.
The children(cross my fingers/avoid the jinx) have consistently played well together. Mom has noticed it too. If the past tense of lay is laid, why not play and plaid?
After we dropped off the Honda we got coffee and went to the Frankfurt Bakery. This is still one of the favorite places for the children.
I showed Liam Ariel's foot and talon. He asked what a talon was so I looked it up in one of my new dictionaries. It derives from a French word for dragon's foot or claw. Ariel does have dragon feet.
I split wood at my parents' today. First I had to fix the hood latch on Poppop's pickup. It was stuck, no lubricant. We had a good time together. bringing two loads over here. then we rode around west of Dover. He enjoyed it. Not surprising, his communication is better side by side, not face to face. Less perceived social pressure, I think. I have seen similar patterns with stutterers.
We went into the development upstream and over the tracks, from the Wyoming Mill Road. He asked me if I could read minds. We had a good time.
Mom and I were the chalice bearers in church this morning. Nobody could remember a husband/wife team before.
We are all thinking of you.
    Love Dad
I understand that proofreading is optional in BLOGs?

  4. What a drag! You'd think that "they" would have dedicated flights to Boston in the interest of getting some help over there. Does this mean that the chick you're replacing is stuck there till you show up? If I were her, I wouldn't be happy about that.

Of course, you're on our church's prayer list too and we pray for you every night with the kids at bedtime, along with Aaron's cousin, Mikey. He volunteered to go to Iraq for a second tour too. The bonus for volunteering is that it's "only" four months. He's guarding civilian workers. Not too intimidating as he is 4'11"... poor guy. I showed the kids on the globe where you're headed and they were sufficiently impressed.

The Steelers and the Cardinals (AZ) are going to the SuperBowl, in case you're interested. I was also a chalice bearer today too, as long as you consider hoppy beverages in aluminum cans chalices.

Hope you get to Boston soon so you can stop being bored.

  5. RE: Carrie's message. There's no joy in Mudville (aka Delaware) because both the Eagles and the Ravens got their butts kicked yesterday. I have one co-worker who I'm sure is going to be dressed in deepest mourning when he comes to work tomorrow (LOL).
