After leaving T-ville, it was only a four hour flight to Memphis. This is the last stop (hopefully) until Boston. It was only fifteen degrees (Fahrenheit) when we got off the plane at five thirty in the morning. I was not complaining about not having my coat then. My company has a personnel office in Memphis, so I and a few others had to go get our bags and then go take care of our personnel stuff. By then I was totally beat after traveling for just over 24 hours. I checked into a hotel with 175 of my new closest friends.
The accommodations are not bad. My bed is kind of lumpy and my alarm clock didn’t work. After a shower and change of clothes I felt much better. I laid in my bed and read a little bit more of my book and “accidentally” fell asleep. Missed breakfast and lunch and, thankfully, my buddy Mark came by and woke me up to get dressed and go get dinner. I’m jet-lagging bad, and I feel I could sleep for another 12 hours. But I have a flight to Boston tomorrow in the early afternoon and I’ve got to plan for that.
Now that the sun is up, it’s not so bad outside. The weather is beautiful. There’s five or six inches of snow on the ground and we can see the mountains from our hotel. But I heard some people talking earlier and they said that the weather has been terrible for the past four or five days. It just finally cleared up. Good. I’m not really feeling like dealing with bad weather.
There’s no internet in our hotel (what’s the deal with that?) but there is a coffeehouse down the block that has wi-fi, so I’ll be able to post this and check to see if there’s any e-mail for me.
And since I took care of my personnel stuff today at the office, my 180 days starts today. But who’s counting?
