Half day…

Though my half day didn’t count since I was up so late last night. I was up until four in the morning. A little after four actually. So I meander into the office around noon and everyone’s gone. Dang. I forgot that it was Wop Wednesday and everyone went to Oh-Jays. So I made a pot of coffee and ate an energy bar.

When I woke up, it was gray and raining. Raining pretty hard. I shouldn’t complain because I don’t have a long walk to the office, but I left my jacket at the office last night (this morning) when I left. So I was just a bit soggy when I got to work. My day was pretty routine. Nothing exiting happened. Sea Monkeys are still swimming. My sister sent an old advertisement about Sea Monkeys. It’s the ad we used to find in comic books back in the 70s and 80s.

The advertisement says “SO EAGER TO PLEASE, THEY CAN EVEN BE TRAINED TO PERFORM TRICKS!”. Yeah! Let’s train our Sea Monkeys. All they do is swim and procreate!

At dinner time, Joey came in and told us all that it was snowing pretty hard! So we all bundled up to head downstairs and go eat. I went to get my camera, but it was too gray and there was rain in the snow. It had been warm enough over the past few days that none of the snow stuck to anything but the cars. But it was kind of pretty for a while.

And when I got back to the office I checked my e-mail and found out that Sara and the kids were off due to snow. Ahhh!!! A nice, relaxing day with the kids while the snow falls. Wrong! When I called Sara at the house, the kids were hooting and hollering wanting to go out and play in the half inch of snow on the ground. Didn’t sound like much relaxin’ was going on.

Rebecca and Liam were really fun to talk to. Rebecca was so exited about her ricekrispytreatsanditissnowing andI’mgoingtoputonmysnowpantsandplayoutside… Liam was a bit more subdued but sang a nice version of Happy Birthday to me.

And now I’m listing to The Kleptones “A Night at the Hip-Hopera” which is a mash-up of Queen, hip-hop, and movie clips and the music of Queen. It’s fun to listen to but I like Yoshimi Battles better.

Tomorrow is laundry day and I have to mail out Sara’s package. I need to find out where the post office is… But that’s a job for tomorrow, and that brings today to a close.

  1. It was great to talk to you, Babe. The kids loved it too. We had a good day being off school together. Miss you!

  2. So I see that I have a real http address. I assume this is you hacking into my account? Thanks! I appreciate it and my cute Susie picture. Love you.

  3. Heck, Sara, and here I thought it was you who put Susie up for yourself! LOL!

Alas, the snow is almost completely gone now (8 p.m.), but it was pretty while it lasted. We didn't get off from work. *sigh*

  4. No snow here in GA, but it's cold as a mofo. But since we're in GA, we are looking forward to a nice sunny weekend with temps in the mid-60's. That is why I moved here.

Questions - how long do sea monkeys live? What do they eat, since you don't have to feed them? What happens to the dead sea monkey bodies? Come to think of it, that last question might answer the second question.

I didn't get the Suntrust job that I was interviewing for, but that is their loss. I'm justifying it as "I don't want to get back into banking" as well as "I didn't want to drive downtown anyway." But I still think they're idiots for not picking me.

I'm still trying to get my neighbor Eric to join me in a moonshine-making business. I told him we already have at least one steady customer.

  5. LOL! I thought Sara put the pic up too!

I looked up training manuals for sea monkeys, and the only semi-useful thing I found was this short story that details some of the "training" they claimed could be done:

    http://www.mississippireview.com/2005/Vol11No3-Jul05/1103-070105-gersh.html

And reading the story, I learned about some really cool plants (Welwitschia Mirabilis) that live for thousands of years! Oh how I love the internet.
