That today was President's Day. I was on the phone to our company's main office and the phone just rang and rang. So I tried another number and it also rang and rang. I was getting kind of frustrated. What time do those clowns come into work? Then it dawned on me that it was a holiday and no one was going to be there all day. And as it turns out it was kind of a peaceful day in the office without the head office calling and asking questions.
It was a really nice day today. Since it was just a little bit boring, I took off for an hour and took a walk after lunch. The temperature was probably in the low to mid forties, the sun was shining, and we actually had songbirds singing. It felt like spring is right around the corner.
The snow has almost all melted. It just came to me. The word I was thinking about the other day. Sublimation is the word for when a solid (like ice or snow) turns into a gas (or water vapor) while skipping the state of liquid. Man, that was bothering me.
Today is Phillip's last day. His flight is early in the morning and then Ashley, his replacement is all by herself. Joey is in Alabama for a couple of days, but when he comes back, he'll be able to help Ashley out. We had a going away dinner for Phillip. It was not very memorable.
Speaking of Alabama, there is a guy from Alabama that we hear brief almost every day. He is almost impossible to understand. "Werehids on furhids, sir!" That's how he sounds. Between him and the two V.P.s from Bahston, I don't know who is harder to understand.
I was able to get through two times on the phone today. I had a good conversation with Rebecca, she sounded kind of sad. That made me feel sad also. Liam wasn't very talkative, but it sounded like he was having a good time at Baba and Granddad's house.
I looked at my countdown calendar today. I've been here for 31 days. That's one month down and five more to go. That also equals about 17%. One month over... Wow. So much has happened in one month.
I'm going to sign off now and try to write some letters. With a pen and a piece of paper. Go figure.
And, YES, I did know that Katrina is only 31...

The only *proper* way to write a letter IS with pen and paper!
ReplyDeleteI'm confused. When did this family become all "proper"? :)
ReplyDeleteSublimation. What a good word. I don't think I've thought about that since Ms. Hesslinga's chem class in 10th grade.
I have some more interviews this Friday... again with Suntrust. Cross your fingers. But I'm still applying like crazy at everywhere else that sounds remotely appealing. Unfortunately, I feel pretty pidgeon-holed in the finance industry. Maybe I should start printing money. I hear that's lucrative.
Perhaps Bernie Madoff has a few openings...
ReplyDeleteCarrie, you should know that when it comes to writing and stuff, your ol' Maw is definitely proper! And the most proper way of writing is with a fountain pen!
