Post Office

First, the bad news…  It looks like I'm going to have to be here for a few more days.  Unfortunately, Jennifer is still stuck in Memphis.  There have been a couple of different problems with her flights and we don't know when she'll be able to make it.  Hopefully tomorrow, but that'll be kind of iffy.  And of course that means that there is a greater chance that I have to stay here a couple of extra days to give her a good turnover.

We know that I have had some crap-tastic turnovers in the past – including the one I got from Johanna; but I do not want to leave Jennifer in a lurch, hurt Mike and Chip in my work section, and tarnish my name as 'the guy who bailed'.  I would hope that if the tables were turned my predecessor would do the same.

I have also become persona non gratta at the post office.  I've given those jokers a lot of business over the past few months.  I don't ask for anything special.  I just want to be treated nicely and I expect a certain level of service.  Well, the clerk I got today was rude as all get out, slow, and didn't know her butt from page eight.  And I told her so.  And I told her manager.  Actually, this had been going on for a while, and while I was waiting in line, a couple of customers all noticed what was going on.

And of course, I got the bee-yotch.  I tried to be extra-special nice to her, but it didn't work.  I actually channeled Gramma Mayo when I finally had enough.  I don't remember exactly what I said, but "I gave her a piece of my mind".

So I'm not going back to the post office for a while.  Sean and Mike were nice enough to agree to go to the post office and mail my stuff.

So to make myself feel better, I played hookey from work for part of the afternoon and I went to the gym.

To wrap up my day:  I might stay a few extra days, I'm never going back to the post office, and I took three hours off of work this afternoon.
