For lunch we went to a place called Koele (COE-lee) which is usually pretty nice. The special today was BBQ pork. And the place smelled really good. The only problem was that when we got our food, it looked like Alpo. And it tasted gross. Really bad. As soon as Sandy said it looked like Alpo, my appetite was totally gone.
Doug, the new guy, was with us and he is fitting in well with our group. Since we are one of the tight knit groups in our company, we have to be fairly cognizant of making sure that everyone fits in. Well, we were walking back to the office and… we lost Doug. One minute he was there and the next minute he had disappeared. No one had seen him peel off and go into a store. But we looked for him for a few minutes and some of went back to the office to see if he had somehow gotten in front of us. We weren’t sure if he knew how to get back. Evidently he did, because we never found him and he showed up 15 minutes later.
I’ve been slacking off going to the gym and I so I started back up today. I can tell I’ve already lost a little weight because my pants are loose, but I’m going to try to get back in shape. When I got back from my last trip I only went to work out maybe 6 times total. So I’ve set a goal for myself for when I leave here.
Chris, Heather, and Brock are going to Kissimmee for two days this week. The Kissimmee office is hosting a conference to “get up to speed” on some of the issues that we are working with here and they were chosen to represent our office. I tried to go, just to see the offices and the living arrangements, but the conference is not really about what I do here. My function will transfer with me when I move.
Chris’ replacement will probably show up while he’s gone. His name is Mike and he’s coming from Japan. That’s all we really know about him. Chris is really looking forward to getting out of here. I think that the plan for Mike is that he will go straight to Kissimmee and get to work there and not learn how we do it here, but learn it from the Kissimmee perspective.
I like seeing people leave. Some people don’t, because they are jealous. But for every person that leaves, I know that my turn to leave bumps up one on the list to go. I have roughly 140 days to go. I can do that easy. But who’s counting?

Inquiring minds want to know: where did Doug go???
ReplyDeleteI sent you a little package today. I shipped in Priority, so it should (*knock on wood*) get to you before you relocate.
And why didn't Doug say "Hey, guys, I want to stop in here for a second"?
